Sal de Gusano, also known as tequila worm salt, is a rare traditional Mexican seasoning handcrafted by a small family producer in Oaxaca, Mexico.
This unique salt blend features crunchy sea salt mixed with roasted and smoked chiles for heat and tang, along with the famous agave worm, which is dried and finely ground to create its distinctive earthy flavor.
A staple of Oaxacan cuisine and central Mexican cooking for centuries, Sal de Gusano dates back to pre-Columbian times. The flavor is smoky, tangy, slightly sweet and incredibly complex.
Traditionally it is used for rimming mezcal and tequila cocktails, seafood dishes and marinades.
One classic way to enjoy mezcal is with a slice of orange sprinkled with Sal de Gusano.
Because this salt is produced in small batches by a family producer, quantities are very limited.

Goes great with pechuga or any other mezcal.

Who knew a tequila worm salt might be a thing? Steel City knew. This salt is the perfect smoky to add to any dish.
Very earthy and spicy! For the true tequila/mezcal lover.
